Private Tour, Texas State Library and Archives at
Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) is hosting a private tour of the newly renovated Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building in Austin for the Lone Star Chapter of APG members. This "behind the scenes" tour is not open to the public or to guests. However, we do invite guests and visitors to attend our evening event in Round Rock at 7:00 p.m.
The TSLAC tour starts at 2:00 p.m. and consists of:
-
a brief introduction to the collections in the Learning Center at TSLAC,
-
a tour of Reference, with a focus on new equipment,
-
a tour of the Genealogy print collection,
-
a visit to the Archives Reading Room, including a view of the Conservation Lab, and
-
a visit to the 2nd stack area, for that special "behind the scenes" glamour.
OPEN TO CHAPTER MEMBERS ONLY. RSVP by April 22 to Debbie Parker Wayne.

Free Seminar:

Session 1, 10:30-11:45 a.m.: An introduction to using DNA for genealogy: "GATA GACC! DNA and Genetic Genealogy."
Session 2, 1:15-2:30 p.m.: An intermediate session on "Maternal Lines: Using Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA)" and "Paternal Lines: Using Y-DNA."
Session 3, 2:45-4:00 p.m.: "Using Family Finder Results" with a discussion on the latest developments in DNA for genealogical purposes.
Attendees may bring a sack lunch or have lunch at a limited number of nearby restaurants.

Networking meeting cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
An informal networking meeting was planned for those attending Angelina College Genealogy Conference (ACGC) in Lufkin, and anyone in the area. Those in attendance at the conference can still network and have informal discussions during breaks, lunch time, and after classes, but the planned meeting has been cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
